Discord Town Hall

Dropping today - we've got frights, we've got delights, and we've even got some spooky surprises up our sleeve dropping later this month…

Town Hall is dressing up for the occasion, and we'll have lots of goodies that await us in the server this month. But let's see what happenings are dropping today, shall we?

Caludron Chaos Drops in the Shop

Lottie and her familar, Hex, have an all new shop dropping today! Lurk on over to the Shop for the new Cauldron Chaos drop!

Between now and October 14th, if you manage to collect four items from the Cauldron Chaos drop, even if they’re gifted to you, you’ll be treated to an exclusive fifth collectible.

Gift Nitro, Summon Your Own Familiar

Starting today until November 3rd, gift Nitro to a friend and you’ll summon one of Lottie’s shapeshifting familiars: Hex, Crowseph, or Umbra. Yours to keep!

In-App Features (Almost) Ready to Rattle

Lottie’s bewitching dark magic will soon be transforming Discord with a new loading animation, and very special ringtone collab that can only be described as cursed (compliment). Check back here on October 7th for all the devilish details.

Hi everyone,

Today we're announcing the rollout of our new age assurance options, which you can read about here. Thanks to some changes we've made, most of you will not have to take any action at all.

Here's the TL;DR:

• Since our last post about teen safety, we've had to launch age assurance solutions in more places, including Texas and Brazil. Laws requiring age assurance are expanding around the world. Rather than waiting to be told how to do it, we're launching our own privacy-preserving approach: one that reflects your feedback and which means more than 90% of you won't be asked to confirm your age.
• You can check your age group status at User Settings > Account Status. We've estimated your age group automatically from account signals like how long your account has existed. We don't look at your messages, calls, or other content. We're launching this over the course of this week, so it may take a few days to reach your account.
• If you're in the adult age group (18+), nothing changes. If you're in the teen age group (13-17), you can keep messaging friends, joining voice calls, and participating in non-age-restricted servers, but with additional safety protections that block age-restricted content, spaces, and settings. Otherwise, Discord works the same.

We've got some more info in the image below, and if you want all the details you can read the full announcement here.

Hello @everyone!

Going forward, you'll get pinged based on what you actually opt into, not the whole server every time. We'll continue to share big Discord updates, promotions, feedback requests, surveys, giveaways, and fun stuff happening here. But we're doing it with pings that go to those who opt in to receive those updates.

If you want to stay in the loop on Discord updates, exclusives, and everything happening in Town Hall, opt into the relevant channel roles here: Channels & Roles

Also, please make sure you have the Town Hall Member role to get access to all channels here.

We have some new channels we've introduced!

#channel - Chat for anything related to the Discord product! New product updates, your favorite parts of the app, and more. If you're looking for help, check out Peer Support below.

#channel - Use this channel to share a screenshot of your profile aesthetic!

#channel - We have some questions for you. Answer if you're feeling up for it.

#channel - Share how Discord has made a positive impact on your life or spotlight your favorite communities!

More is coming soon. Stay tuned for more changes to the server. And for making it this far, head over to #channel for a little treat.
